Oil separator

Oil is an undesirable substance in waste water. Small particles of oil are mixed in waste water, making it damaging for the environment once dispatched there. To prevent this, the easiest way to separate oil and water is the use of an oil separator. Restrictions on oil levels in the wastewater vary per country or even per state, so the size of the oil separator depends on the quantities of desired filtered oil out of the water.

In general, a direct discharge of oil-containing wastewater into surface water or soil is damaging for the environment, and therefore very undesirable. In some cases it is almost inevitable that the waste water will contain oil. Here, the use of an oil seperator will lower the quantity of oil in the wastewater to miligrams per litres, depending on the type of seperator used.

Depending on the class of the separator, the choice is either a coalescing or a gravity separator. While the gravity separator uses the difference in density of oil and water to separate them, the coalescing separator uses oil attracting media packs which are fixed inside the treatment chamber, resulting in a very low content of residual oil.

Unsure if you need a coalescing or gravity separator? Contact our engineers for an obligation free consultation to find the best oil separator for you!
